Before the 19th century, Great Britain had no organized police system. In 1829 Sir Robert Peel , England’s Home Secretary, introduced and guided through Parliament “The Metropolitan Act of 1829”. Metropolitan Police Force was created by this Act. It was the first organized British police force.

In Britain different areas have different police forces. For instance, the Metropolitan police – the largest police force in the country operate in London, but there are different police forces in the counties outside London.
